Coronavirus: Kids’ bike injuries hit five-year high during level 4 lockdown
The number of children admitted to Auckland’s Starship Children’s Hospital with bike-related injuries hit a five-year high during coronavirus lockdown, researchers say.
The lack of vehicles on the road meant for once, there were no kids needing treatment for motor vehicle crashes.
New Zealand went into alert level 4 lockdown on March 25 to reduce the spread of Covid-19 in the community. The country moved to alert level 3 about a month later when case numbers significantly dropped.
