This educational activity has been approved in the RACS CPD Program. Fellows who participate can claim six points in Maintenance of Knowledge and Skills.  Participation in this activity will be populated into your RACS CPD Online providing you supply your RACS ID upon registration.

Please follow your DHBs process for conference registration as separate invoicing will not be issued.

Provisional Program: 

Session One – Trauma Reception: Communication between teams, Code Red/T30 – trauma call advancement and Trauma call simulation

Session Two – Groups at Risk: TBI outcome study, Frailty and risk assessment in older adult trauma patients (focus on trauma)

Session Three – Clinical updates: Midland Trauma quiz, Management of severe chest injury (rib plating/new chest injury pathway), pain management in trauma patients who use alcohol, marijuana and methamphetamine, Contemporary management of blunt abdominal injuries in paediatrics (diagnosis/treatment/imaging)

Session Four – Mass casualty communication:  Perspectives from Queensland, Christchurch and Whakaari Island

Conference closes at 4.30 pm.
