Low fatal crash rates on the Waikato Expressway prove we need more four-lane highways in New Zealand, National MP David Bennett says.
From 2015 until October 2020 there were 849 crashes on the expressway, with only five fatalities, initial data released by the NZ Transport Agency shows.
The figures are based on data where the expressway route currently exists, which is from the end of the Auckland southern motorway at the Bombay Hills to east of Cambridge.
