Bronwyn’s career began at Taranaki Base Hospital in 1994 where she gained a place on the New Graduate Scheme. Bronwyn then moved up to Starship Hospital in Auckland and worked on the Surgical Children’s Ward. Following this she worked for Waikato Clinical Research for 3 years and gained her Bachelors of Nursing during this time. Since then she has been a Senior Staff Nurse on the Surgical Ward M12 at Waikato Hospital. Bronwyn has also filled in for the Colorectal Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist and Stomal Therapy Clinical Nurse Specialist during this time and is now really enjoying her secondment as the Acting Trauma Clinical Nurse Specialist.
The values of the Midland Trauma system align with Bronwyn’s of putting the patient first, focussing on their needs and ensuring they receive the best care possible by collaborating with all involved trauma care providers.
Bronwyn finds caring for Trauma patients to be rewarding as she is inspired by their determination and progress. Her new role gives her the privileged position to be involved in the coordination of the care of trauma patients and to be a support person for the families alongside Clinical Director, Mr Grant Christey and Trauma Specialist, Damien Ah Yen.
