After surgical training in New Zealand and some time as a trauma surgeon in Sydney Australia, I took up my current position at Waikato Hospital as a General and Trauma Surgeon and Director Trauma Services at Waikato Hospital and MTS, and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Surgery at Waikato Clinical School.

I am involved in many facets of surgical and trauma governance, education and research. I have special interests in the management of complex abdominal wounds and disaster preparedness. I am currently focused on development of the Waikato Hospital Trauma Service and the Midland Trauma System, and more recently hosting of the National Major Trauma Registry. My research interests currently involve the application of complex trauma-related data to reducing the burden of trauma on the community. In all areas of my practice I am dedicated to providing patient-focussed care of the highest quality.
