Trauma Registry

Trauma Registry

The Midland Trauma registry is a highly customised version of the Collector™ program. It is web accessible and is managed by the MTS Hub team based in Waikato.

There are approximately 5900 trauma admissions to hospitals in the Midland region each year. Of these about 330 have injuries which are severe or life threatening. The Midland Trauma System collects data on each of these patients via the local clinical trauma services in each of the five Midland DHB’s- Bay of Plenty, Hauora Tairawhiti, Lakes, Taranaki and Waikato.

The information collected in the Midland Trauma Registry allows detailed analysis of injury events, patient factors, processes in care and outcomes.   There are over 24,000 documented patient journeys in the registry that provide a rich information source to improve the delivery of clinical care, fine-tune our systems to be better and more cost effective, and help prevent injury in the first place

Since July 2015, we have hosted the National Major Trauma Database that includes data from almost all the DHBs in New Zealand.
